One Day at a Time
In this part of the Sermon on the Mount, Jesus teaches about giving, prayer, fasting, treasure, and worry. He invites his hearers to look at birds and flowers and to reconsider what takes first place in their lives.
The teaching about tomorrow comes within a call to seek God’s kingdom and righteousness. Each day has trouble of its own. The passage is an invitation to trust and reordered priorities, not a dismissal of people facing real needs or a promise that no planning is necessary.
