The Empty Tomb

Women come to the tomb with spices and find the stone rolled away. The body of Jesus is not there. They hear the announcement that he has risen and remember his words. They return to tell the others, who initially struggle to believe them.

Later, two travelers speak with Jesus on the road to Emmaus without recognizing him at first. Their recognition comes as he breaks bread. The chapter also recounts Jesus appearing to the gathered disciples and opening their understanding of Scripture before his departure.
