Isaac and the Promise

Sarah gave birth to Isaac, the son promised to Abraham in their old age. Abraham named him Isaac and circumcised him as instructed. The chapter also tells of conflict involving Hagar and Ishmael, and of God’s care for them in the wilderness. Isaac’s birth is a moment of laughter and fulfillment within a family story that also contains pain and difficult relationships.
