A Choice in the Garden

In the garden, the serpent questions the command God gave. The woman sees that the fruit is desirable and takes it; the man eats too. Their eyes are opened, but this new awareness brings shame. They cover themselves and hide.

When God calls to them, blame passes from one to another. The consequences reach their relationships, work, and life outside the garden. Yet the account also includes God clothing them before they leave. The story turns from the harmony of the beginning toward the human struggle with trust, responsibility, and broken relationships.
