The Exodus: Crossing the Sea
After Israel left Egypt, Pharaoh’s army pursued them. With the sea ahead and the army behind, the people were afraid. Moses told them to stand firm, and the narrative describes the sea being divided so Israel crossed on dry ground. The pursuing army was overwhelmed when the waters returned. This is a central deliverance story in Exodus, followed by worship and the long challenges of the wilderness.
