Esther Speaks for Her People

When Mordecai learned of the danger to the Jewish people, he urged Esther to speak to the king. Esther knew that approaching uninvited could cost her life. She asked for fasting before she went, and then approached the king and invited him and Haman to a banquet. These chapters begin her intervention, while the following chapters describe how the threat unfolds and is confronted.
