Daniel in the Lions’ Den

Daniel continued his practice of prayer after a royal decree forbade petitions to anyone except the king. His opponents used the decree to accuse him, and he was placed in the lions’ den. The king spent an anxious night and returned at dawn. Daniel said God had shut the lions’ mouths. The story describes a particular deliverance; it does not promise that faithful people will never suffer.
