Good News in Bethlehem
Mary and Joseph travel to Bethlehem because of the registration described in Luke’s account. There Mary gives birth to Jesus, wraps him in cloths, and lays him in a manger because there is no room for them in the lodging place.
Shepherds keeping watch at night hear the announcement of good news. They go to Bethlehem, find the child, and tell others what they have heard. Mary treasures these things and ponders them. The chapter later brings Jesus to the temple, where Simeon and Anna respond to his arrival.
